Israeli press reports that IBA is planning a new selection format for 2013.
30 artists will be competing and divided into three semi-finals, to be held in early 2013. The three most voted songs from each semi-final will qualify for the national final. In addition to those nine qualifiers, one more finalist will be chosen as a wildcard from those who were left in the semi-finals.
It is unknown when the willing artists can start submitting their songs to the broadcaster and when the rules will be published.
The 2012 representative was chosen internally by the broadcaster after they cancelled the planned national selection due to financial troubles. Band Izabo failed to qualify to the final from the first semi-final in Baku.
