PARTICIPATE

Most of the countries that are participating Eurovision Song Contest will choose their representatives through an open call so that anyone can participate. Eurovision Song Contest entries must be under or exactly 3 minutes long and artist(s) on stage over 16 years old by the time of the contest. Song must not be published before September 1st or it might be disqualified. In addition, each broadcaster might add their own rules, some accept foreign composers and artists, some not. Please keep an eye on our news as there you’ll find the most up-to-date information and rules for national selection formats.

Some broadcasters however select their representative internally without any national selection.

POSTCARDS

Artists are once again starring their own postcards. This year, each representative received a package from Austria and first part of the postcard shows artists opening the post package. Artists will then fulfill their task in Austria which is linked to the gift they received. Postcards are filmed in every province of Austria.

REHEARSALS

The rehearsals in Vienna start on Monday, May 11th. Each country has two rehearsals on stage for themselves – the first one is 30 minutes while the second one is 20 minutes. After the first rehearsal – each country will have its own meet and greet with the press and a proper press conference after the second rehearsal.

In addition, there will be three dress rehearsals before each live show.

Full schedule can be viewed here.

STAGE

The stage is 44 metres in width and 14,3 metres in height. 1288 pillars will give us the big light show on the stage.

The stage is forming an eye, and the meaning behind is to show respect for cultures, countries and people, according to the broadcasters TV director, Kathrin Zehner.

In the Grand Final, artists will enter the venue via a ‘Magic Bridge’. The Green Room is again located inside the arena.

The official motto of the 2015 song contest is “Building Bridges”. The organizers explained the decision as following; “With the song contest in Vienna, we want music to build bridges across borders, cultures and languages. In light of the unifying power of this great common European event, we invite all to build bridges and to join hands.”

PKP BBDO is behind the slogan and the theme art.

TICKETS

First batch of tickets went on sale before Christmas and another ones in late-January and a month later in February. A total of some 100,000 tickets will be sold to the live shows and rehearsals. The ticket prices can be found here.

VENUE

Several locations across the country were competing for the right to host the shows but eventually it was the capital city Vienna that was chosen. Wiener Stadthalle can seat up to 16,000 spectators but it is estimated that for Eurovision the capacity will be around 10,000.

The complex consists of six halls – the main hall is the large multi-purpose hall where the concerts and other events take place. The arena is within a short distance from the city center and there are many underground stations nearby.
